This products is 100 pct effective for me, and I was well over 75% grey. However I hadn't dyed my hair in over a year, and that probably helped the efficacy.. Over the years, I had developed severe reactions to the dyes , no matter which product I tried, and i didn't think I had any choice but to be grey. For me, its a miracle. An added plus is that HP seems to cover very deep into the roots, and my hair grows out perfectly normal looking, and lightens slowly with each washing. My natural color is a bit lighter than the color I get after applying it, but by the time I get to 2 weeks post treatment, its the same as it was 15 years ago, and by the time I get to 5 weeks, its the same as I was 7 years ago. Its just the best. Thank you.

Great non-toxic, food-grade (edible!) product that works well for my dark brown, 15% gray hair to be restored to 100% brown. I’ve not tried traditional hair dyes, but I am a swimmer, with exposure to pool chemicals, so draw your own conclusions.

Positive:
1. 100% coverage which washes out slowly over a few months, resulting in a natural look.
2. Much cheaper than the salon. And, done on your schedule, without having to be tied to regular salon appointments.
3. Non-toxic and all natural formulation that leaves hair feeling healthy and soft.

Negative:
1. A bit of work (usually takes me 1.5 hours or 2, which includes set up and clean up) and somewhat messy, so if you’re not a do-it-yourself or patient person, this might not be for you.
2. Must be shipped. This sometimes takes a week or longer, so plan ahead. I asked if I could simply pick up from their distribution center in Sausalito (I live 5 minutes away) and the company is not set up for that.
3. Some QA issues do pop up. While I’ve had good success a few times with treatments, the last shipment had something wrong. The mixtures didn’t foam up as usual and the result was a watery mix, which didn’t work to cover the grays. Disappointing. I know there are HP salons. I might give that a try.

Overall, great product. I’m happy there is a healthy, effective solution to toxic chemical hair dyes.

Ok, follow up on the above QA issues. Changed my review from 4 to 5 stars. I explained my one failed chemical mix and the company immediately made it right—sent me a replacement. No hassles, no questions.

I love hairprint products. Despite that hairprint color is not covering 100% gray hair, and it is messy, I've learned how to use it for better experience. First of all, before you start make sure to wear old t-shirt that you don't need. Second, cover the place near the sink with paper towels and floor as well. Third, apply the product little by little very carefully. Forth, don't wash your hair in the shower!!! Wash it in the sink and wash it in the end of the process, not after every application. Finally, please before the application apply little bit of oil around your face and ears. Give it a try and you will love it. My first time using the color was terrible, I thought I will never use this product again. I kept mastering my skills and techniques and it worth it. Best hair color ever, nochemicals, my hair looks 20 years younger! Highly recommended!

I really, really tried to make this work but after a year plus I give up on this product and company. First, it is really time consuming. You have to first wash hair with treatment, then use the mixed restore for 15 min, then wash hair again, then put another round of restore mix on hair for 15 min, then wash hair again, then put on complete toner for 15 min, then wash hair one last time. Was that enough to stop using? No. Although color results were spotty and grey doesn't cover great, I still liked the idea i was restoring my hair to something better. So I kept going. After well over a year, I'm giving up because I've had numerous QA issues. Multiple ship errors, and company just says sorry they are small family run. But when they made error or i was in dire need of my color, for a big event and couldn't pick it up when I live 15 min away, I was irked. But I tried again and bought three kits. Last straw was that once again a QA issue. All three kits had a defective complete package. It didn't foam at ALL and it was runny did that got all over the place as it kept running down my back even when I tried using a cap to keep it in. So, I'm done. Not too mention for all that hassle it's not cheap!! The only reason I have two stars is because it did bring shine to my hair. I do wanted this to thicken and help my hair, but alas it's not worth it.

I have used this product and it works since I have not dyed my hair prior. It says not to use if you have previously dyed your hair. You need to have all the previous dyes stripped on your hair. If used correctly, the color stays for 6 months or more as in my case. Yes, it can be messy with the process specially with long hair like mine but the end result is great. It's beautiful and helps to thicken the hair. Also, it looks very natural as it mimics the actual color of the hair. Happy that they now have the shampoo and conditioner.

Customer service is bad and the long process is way too messy. The instructions in the box did not say to put oil on your skin. I got my skin stained for several weeks from the process.I tried the product 6 times and finally saw some faint color in my white hair but not enough for coverage. I am getting tired of the bad results for this expensive product. Now they are telling me they have a better pretreatment and an
expensive clarifying shampoo to help with the coloring. I do not think I can believe this company anymore esp. when they were unwilling to take back the box with the older pretreatment. They are charging way too much for something that does not give you good results even after using it more than several times..

I am sorry to see there aren't more Google reviews available for Hairprint products, because unfortunately having even ONE single horrifying and negatively biased review like the one I just read from "JD L" which is snidely condescending towards people seeking natural hair coloring and other products, and towards people being appreciative of "chemically smart" products, will sadly dissuade some people from looking further at these rather astonishingly good and yes, biochemically breakthrough products.

I am a physician, and also have allergies to many of the harsh chemicals and substances used in most commercially available hair products and especially dyes--including henna products, which often include metallic salts and other things which are documented all over the internet as causing people severe allergic reactions.

Hairprint is very clear about its coloring product currently only being useable by people with brown or black hair. And yes, it doesn't work well on hair that has been previously chemically treated--it simply requires hair to be in a "natural state" and so if one has been using commercial dyes, then there is going to be a transition process.

However, I don't know how universally it works for people that can follow the directions (and yes, they have made incremental improvements in the product and the directions for use, as they have gained experience), but for me, it works amazingly well, restoring my mixed brown and grey hair to original dark brown color, very naturally. My barber thinks it's amazing--much better than the results I had from using the "men's" hair dye one finds in all the grocery and drug stores in the US. And if that wasn't good enough, the best part for me is that the components of Hairprint, being all Food Grade (literally, edible), is that I have ZERO allergic reactions. I used to get weeping blisters on my scalp, so this is a big deal. And with the product actually replacing melanin into the inside of the hair shaft, using each individual's own DNA-mapped pattern, yes, my hair is ALSO much healthier and stronger than it has been in more than a decade.

I'm also very happily using Hairprint's new shampoos and conditioners for the same reason: no allergic reactions, whatsoever.

And so, to avoid a head full of blisters, and have a good result, yes, I am willing to pay $19.50 a month (I have short hair, so can use a Half Kit every 4 weeks). I would gladly pay much more than that for the results I am getting, actually.

And any "reviewer" who is slamming people for seeking smart, chemically green solutions to what has been a market full of unregulated, allergenic and toxic products for the last many decades, is suspicious in my estimation, and very possibly financially connected to the manufacturers of other products. Or at the very least, just ignorant about biochemistry and allergies. (I wish I could run Fakespot on these reviews!)

In any case, I hope that other users of Hairprint who are having good results, add their voices here, so that some of the many people who are out there suffering from terrible hair dye allergies might have a new chance here. With any luck, the chemists at Hairprint will also discover a way to replace eumelanin somehow someday, too, so that redheads and blondes will be able to benefit from this kind of product, just like us brown-haired folks.

So, all you clever women and men out there looking for a brand new scientific product that is “all natural” and you think HAIRPRINT is the solution.

Well, I have good news and bad news. I’ll give you the good first. It is all natural but so are a number of well designed, similar hair coloring options already available on the market. A very good example would be: Surya Brasil Henna Cream. Unlike the messy long application of not 1, but 3 different packages taking 75 minutes to apply with Hairprint, the Henna Cream has a straight 1 simple application that is guaranteed to cover stubborn non-porous hair like gray.

Let’s move on to the next most valuable issue. After trying HAIRPRINT (Dark) over 3xs and following the application instructions which have changed since they first launched, you will inevitably find out that it is not only OVERPRICED but its also going to be INEFFECTIVE FOR TOTAL COVERAGE for resistant or otherwise structurally altered hair. What does this mean? It means that if you are going from a chemically treated hair to an immediate change to this product – DO NOT EXPECT IT TO WORK!

Hairprint is designed to work cumulatively and primarily for those that have “Virgin Hair”. That’s not all--- those “very intelligent” highly paid scientists failed to simply inform consumers with a warning on their insert, website or packaging; identifying the possible reasons for it not working!

One of the most glaring reasons for it possibly not restoring or altering your hair completely has to do with the manufacturing/packaging process. IF YOUR PACKAGES #1, #2 or #3 are darker than off-white color, then the package has possibly been subject to oxidation. WHAT THEY DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO DO IS SIMPLY CONTACT THEM WITH A COMPLAINT AND RETURN THE PACKAGES FOR NEW OR FRESHLY MADE PACKAGES. Furthermore, they do not warn you of a compromised product ahead of time. Be FOREWARNED THIS NATURAL PRODUCT WILL NOT ADHERE TO CHEMICALLY TREATED HAIR EVEN IF YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONTINUING PRODUCTS 1 TO 2 DAYS PRIOR.

Again, this is a product that works from the “inside out” of your hair. In summary, most millennials and the like are looking for amazing, immediate, color, shine and depth in their hair RESTORATION OR COLOR. This product unfortunately does not work that way, its sole purpose is to restructure/restore the hair to its virgin color, which may not include massively resistant hair (i.e. Vitiligo patients or previously chemically treated gray hair.) If you do not wish to patiently use 3 or 4 packages for a partially transformed semi-permanent process at $42.00 a pop; or be treated by a somewhat unethical process in customer service when you complain about their irregularities as this company fights the “learning curve” for marketing their product, my advice is do your research and grab a time-tested product---- you’ll be glad you did!
