I’ve had two great experiences here in the past, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was very disappointing. My hair was not done correctly, and despite coming in for a consultation just five days later, I was told I would need to pay for the corrections.

The front desk staff and students were wonderful—patient, kind, and very helpful. However, the educator was not helpful and dismissed my concerns.

I requested a natural look with blonde on the ends, but instead, my hair turned out with a warm orange/red tone, completely different from the cool tone I showed as my reference. The color transition is harsh, making it look unnatural—almost as if a line was drawn across my hair.

I understand that a student performed the service and that mistakes can happen, but I expected more guidance from the educator. The school should take responsibility and correct this mistake without charging me. It’s disappointing that I’m being asked to pay to fix an issue that should have been prevented with proper supervision.

MISERABLE! I was absolutely miserable the entire time! I asked for a skin tight high fade and blend in the top. To start off they set me in a chair with absolutely no cushion for support in the back. The stations are so close together that one chair hits the other as the barbers turn you around. I literally had to pick up my feet 3 times so that other chairs would not hit them. Then the barber took an hour and thirty eight minutes to give me what he thought was a good hair cut. He spent 15 minutes doing the same area around my head. He turned me towards the mirror and said how does it look and I said blend the top please. I shouldn’t have needed to tell him that! I honestly think he was high. His eyes were very red and squinted the entire time. Let’s talk about unprofessional! Also the short squatty lady with the reddish pink hair that I believe is in management there was hitting on a client and then I saw her put her phone number in his phone! Again unprofessional! So after the excruciating pain in my back and the haircut that took an hour too long I went to pay! The nice lady asked how my experience was and I told her absolutely horrible! She giggled and asked if I was serious! I told her I was completely serious and that I would never be back or recommend the business to anyone ever! Her words were “Oh sorry! That will be $10!” Oh, and I am disgusted with my haircut!

I went there to get my hair cut not knowing what to expect as I have never had any type of services at a teaching institute before. The appointment was easy to make. My hair technician was really friendly and made me feel at ease. She listened to how I wanted my hair cut and showed me a picture of what I was describing. At this point her instructor came over and introduced herself to me and asked my technician what service she would be providing. The instructor gave her the green light and she took me back to shampoo my hair. Afterwards she took me back to her work station and she started cutting my hair. While she worked, she asked me a couple of questions to make sure we were on the same page. After she completed the cut, she got her instructor to examine her work and then she dried and styled my hair. I am very pleased with my cut and style and would definitely go back there again.

I have mixed feelings about my experience at this university. While I truly appreciate my teacher and their dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment, the overall atmosphere at the school often feels stifling. The approach to teaching is more like training, with an overemphasis on rigid rules and procedures that strip away any sense of individuality or creativity. The educators, particularly the leadership, tend to treat us like children, constantly throwing the student contract in our faces and speaking in condescending tones and also consideration

It feels like they're more interested in pointing out our mistakes than in helping us succeed. There’s a sense that they’re waiting for us to fail rather than providing the encouragement and support we need to thrive. It’s disheartening, especially when you're passionate about learning and pursuing a career in this field. While I understand the importance of structure, the constant micromanagement and lack of trust in students’ abilities creates an environment that feels more punitive than educational.

Overall, while I value the time with my teacher and some of the hands-on experiences, the leadership and the general tone set by the school makes it hard to feel motivated or supported. It often feels like we're being treated like robots rather than being nurtured as aspiring professionals.
Definitely do more research before you make your decision!

I had my hair cut by Sheff at the Aveda Institute, and it was a great experience! Sheff had great energy and was super easy to talk to, which made the time fly by. He was very personable and really listened to what I wanted. While he styled my hair nicely, I ended up restyling it myself because I know how I like it best.

I believe Sheff is still learning how to do curtain bangs, he did the length right but it came out a little blunt, the educator stepped in to help refine them. She helped give them more shape, and I’m really satisfied with the results. Sheff did great! I look forward to hearing about his future success! It’s important to remember that everyone cutting hair here is a student who’s still learning. If you want ‘professional’ results, you should go to a professional stylist. But for $20, they washed, cut, and blow-dried my hair, and I feel it was a great value and overall a wonderful experience!
