La comida que hace el chef.

Brewery Gulch Inn is a lovely place to stay in Mendocino. Relatively small, it is in a beautiful location and the surroundings are very quiet. Our room was nice albeit not as spacious as the online pictures give the impression, but we had plenty of room and were comfortable. The Inn is very close to town, and we found ourselves easily going back and forth between the two. The staff at the Inn are the nicest people - very friendly and happy to just chat with you. But by far, the food is the biggest draw to the Inn. Breakfast is included every morning, and the choices are all great. I'd have been happy to stay another night so I could try one more breakfast. In the evening, each room gets a box of appetizers to go with the included happy hour. The wine selections were nice - local Anderson Valley wineries. The food provided is more of a meal than a snack - it was our dinner for two of the nights we stayed. Excellent food - our compliments to the chef! This was our first trip to Mendocino, but I am pretty sure we will be back to both the town and the Inn.

The place was great. Had a feeling like home away from home. Setting was beautiful, the room was cozy and well appointed. The view overlooking the coast has incredible sunset views. The food was wonderful and the bento box is a great idea and lets you decide where you want to eat. Would stay again!

Amazing place to get away ... quiet and peaceful, nice and friendly people. Ocean view from the outside deck (or upstairs rooms I imagine, but I stayed downstairs). Each room is unique and special. The deep bathtub was a treat and hot stone massage was heavenly. The wine and appetizer hour was generous and delectable, and I really appreciated that they took into consideration food allergies and sensitivities, not like more places that would not accommodate someone who is gluten-free. The only suggestion is to buy new comfier mattresses - unfortunately, the mattress was too hard and I couldn't sleep on it. I want to stay here again, and just hope there will be a newer softer mattress by then. Anyway, highly recommend this lodge.

We relied on TripAdvisor reviews to determine where to spend our anniversary in Mendocino and they led us - happily - to the Brewery Gulch Inn & Spa. The room we stayed in was comfortable and conveniently located since one of us has walking challenges. The breakfasts were excellent, we could pick up a freshly baked pastry for snacking later in the day, and we thoroughly enjoyed their light dinner and wine hour. Staff were outstanding, responding promptly and helpfully to requests for assistance or information. While the grounds are small, a small road leading into the hillside behind or one directly across the highway that meanders along the coast were both easily accessible for comfortable walks. We also appreciated the Inn being close - but not too - close to the Mendocino itself for shopping or dining. We look forward to returning.

The staff is warm & friendly. The food is excellent. The rooms are well appointed and cozy. The location is convenient to a number of North Coast wineries. Always sorry when we have to leave. We come back every year because this is such a great place to stay.

Probably the best hotel experience we have ever had. The staff were exceptional. The chef was amazing - breakfast and dinner was perfect. We met and had great conversations wish other guests. A great place to relax and recharge the batteries. We felt at home.

Spent a couple of nights at BGI because the place was really hyped up by both guest reviews and Travel Awards. We left feeling underwhelmed, honestly. For starters, the food was below expectations. Dinner one night was two mini burgers. What? Hamburgers in a resort extolling the virtues of its cuisine? Dinner the second night was a chicken dish. The chicken was so tough I can only imagine the chef was off that night and chicken prepared the day before was defrosted and served to unsuspecting guests. Really way below and average meal, no less a meal in a resort that hypes up its food quality. Two strikeouts. And the "millionaire's bacon?" Quite ordinary bacon. If you want to offer a "millionaire's bacon," try emulating the bacon appetizer at Peter Luger's Steakhouse in NYC. That's "millionaire's bacon!!!" Rooms were average. The front desk staff were great. Overall, a disappointment. Sorry.
