Dr. Martinez & his staff are awesome!!
Had a infection in a molar in the bottom of mouth. X-ray & extraction only cost me $130. Total time there. 1 hour 11 minutes. . We even got a next day appointment when my wife called to schedule.

My partner(7 extractions and implants) and I(upper attached plate with 8 teeth) spent two years getting extensive dental work from Dr. Alvaro Martinez. The best dental experience we've ever had. We love our 'new' teeth. Amazingly work. Clean, professional and affordable.

Dr. Martinez is a renown dental surgeon.
I started out just wanting a cosmetic cap/crown for my front teeth. The American dentist, whom I love, made a mistake filed it down too low to hold the crown. I went for an implant in Mexico that didn't hold. Dr. Martinez said he would have to do a bone graft, etc. He is one of the elite few who could do that. I opted for a beautiful bridge. Mexico is famous for bridges. Later I was diagnosed with TMJ due to stress and he guided me through that. I recovered and didn't miss work, pain free
All the dentists were glorifying the implant procedure to make more money. I have moved but will find another similar specialist.

I rarely leave reviews, and I feel bad about leaving this one, but I want others to be informed about their treatment.
I live in Oregon and needed an extraction and dental implant. The price quote in the United States was absurd and unrealistic for me given my financial state. My father lives in Arizona and recommend I go to Mexico, as the procedures are less expensive.

I was told that they could provide me with a medication to help me relax (I had major anxiety about doing it without going under) and they gave me something comparable to Valium but it did nothing. They gave me another dose. Nothing. Another dose. Nothing. By that point, the staff at the counter seemed annoyed with me. I was in tears and my gut told me to walk out and I should have but I didn’t. The procedure itself was fast and painless for the most part, which was a relief. However, the environment was very impersonal and it seemed like the focus was on getting done quickly, rather than carefully BUT I acknowledge this is not a fair statement to make because speediness doesn’t necessarily mean carelessness. It was just something I noted.

Pain was bad directly after, which is to be expected. After 5 days, the pain was probably worse. It got a little better after 10, but was still painful. I returned to Oregon and went to my dentist, whom took an x-ray of the implant. He was immediately a little concerned because the implant was crooked and placed at an angle that would make it difficult to place a crown later. He said it could be done, but that latest technology would have allowed for the implant to be placed perfectly. This office did not seem to utilize anything advanced and appeared to be at least a decade behind (again, this may be an unfair statement for me to make as I am not a professional in dentistry).

After a month, I was still feeling some pain and tenderness. In the evening one night, I felt a loose piece in my mouth and realized the abutment came out (the top piece for the implant) I put it in a bag and scheduled another appt with my dentist to get it put back in. When he went to put it back, he realized my gums had already grown over the top so he recommended we just not worry about the abutment and place it again when it’s time place the crown.

Three months later, I was STILL experiencing tenderness. I didn’t eat on that side of my mouth at all. It was very mild and mostly only hurt if I put any pressure on my jaw. I went into my dentist again and he noticed the x-ray of the implant showed little progress.

Seven months later, I noticed pain around the gums and I saw a black spot where the implant was. at first I was worried about an infection but then within a few days I realized the implant was popping through my gums. COVID happened, and I couldn’t get in. Scheduled a torque test with an oral surgeon for when they reopened but they were hesitant to do it because they confirmed that the material in the implant was a knock-off brand of the one they usually use in the U.S.

Well, I saw my dentist today and he informed me that my implant has failed and rejected. The bone did not heal around it and it is barely anchored in there; it has literally started pushing itself out and has progressively moved closer to the surface. I am now scheduled to get the implant removed and I will have to let the space heal up before I can get another one. I may also need a bone graft If it doesn’t heal as it should.

Do implants fail even when completed by the best oral surgeons in the world? Absolutely. Am I suspicious about how mine happened? Absolutely. I was not impressed with the overall process and after my dentist confirmed it was placed strangely and was not healing properly, I got even more concerned. So, is it “fair” of me to give a negative review of this place? Maybe, maybe not. I will leave this at the fact that my implant failed and now I am out a tremendous amount of money and will end up having to do it in the U.S. anyway. Rejection can happen to anyone, and it may have been a total coincidence, but it’s information.

Dr. Mario and Ana have been wonderful to me. I am very fearful of the dentist and need a lot of work. They have gone above & beyond to accommodate me. Thank you!
