and barbers before with all this hype around their name - but Junior has them all beat 100%. bro got me right - super quick too, it might’ve taken 20 min total and I walked out with probably my favorite cut i’ve ever gotten. Super affordable too. 10/10 recommend.

For years, I was a weekly patron of House of Blends, specifically seeking out Junior, the owner, for my fades and beard trims. My loyalty spanned over eight years with junior, during which I'd regularly commute from DTLA to Sherman Oaks, often adjusting my schedule and leaving work early to make my appointments on time. However, my last visit marked a turning point in my experience.

Despite my consistent patronage, I frequently found myself waiting for extended periods, often up to an hour, as walk-ins, friends, and family were prioritized over my scheduled appointment. The quality of service also seemed to diminish over time, with my sessions becoming rushed, lasting about 10 minutes, and lacking the engagement and attention I'd come to expect. Junior remained preoccupied on his phone, barely interacting or responding to my attempts at conversation.

My final visit, after a year's hiatus, was particularly disheartening. Instead of a warm welcome back, I was met with frustration from Junior for my absence, further impacting the already uncomfortable atmosphere. The entire appointment felt hurried, wrapping up in just 15 minutes, without the quality or attention I had previously experienced.

Reflecting on these experiences, it's apparent that the essence of humble service, which once defined House of Blends for me, has been overshadowed by other priorities. While it's disheartening to share, I hope this feedback can serve as constructive for the business to perhaps revisit the core values of customer service and satisfaction that are so crucial to sustained success.

I came at the opening time being amongst first clients. The floor in the waiting area was dirty: chips crumbs, hairs. Disgusting. They can’t even prepare the place for a new day.

The barber was 10 minutes late.

Great business!

And when booking online, they ask you about how big a tip you would like to include in the online payment, hah!

They're not professional at all. Often if anything, all the time they'll gossip your ears off. Sometimes, you'll even hear them talking about marijuana shops and giving other people a $30 price but YOU'LL be getting charged full $40 just because they liked the other customer better than you... that's literally the case in this barber shop. Go elsewhere where you'll get your money's worth.

Honestly this place is such a great place to go to get your cut and get your beard done (if that's something you do). Made an appointment with them and my barber was Junior honestly his such a cool guy and he will talk to you and make you feel at home. Junior gave me exactly what I was looking for, got my comb over with the hard part, nice fade and got my beard cleaned up.
They have such a good vibe and atmosphere with the music they play and the barbers there. I will say if your planning on going to get your hair cut there have cash ready but just in case you forget they do have a atm there. You do not want to miss out on this place.

I've been to 4 different barbershops around the Sherman Oaks / Van Nuys area over the last few years I've lived here and am grateful to have found House of Blends. The staff there is warm and welcoming, but most importantly they do great precision barber work. I always leave there feeling more confident in my appearance which is important in my line of work. The scheduling app they use allows you to easily schedule/reschedule an appointment and even reminds you a day before which is super convenient for us busy folks. Important to note, especially during this COVID era, is the cleanliness of the place. Junior, the owner, seems to always keep the place super clean and is constantly sanitizing which I appreciate because I have a family to think about. I give this barbershop 5 stars.

I tried this place because it was closer to my home. I didn’t know this place changes $50 and up. The barber shop I normally go to changes me $25 +tip. So I will not be coming back to this place. the hair cut is ok but not worth paying more for the same haircut I can get somewhere else.

Excellent barber studio, and with the best stylist I've ever had: Ada Vargas! Great style in the decor, very chill atmosphere, and the owner (Junior) is extremely nice. Only downsides are it's cash only, and parking is on the street. But I'll keep going back!
