I'm actually rather upset, but giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the staff was friendly. I called in and explained I'm traveling, that I'd had a colour correction at home and had my stylist's formula with me. The receptionist was very nice and got me in for a same day appointment telling me the stylist was up to date on all of that. I told the stylist that I'd had a colour correction, that I'd tried to go gray but it didn't suit me so my stylist formulated to buy me as much time between coloring as possible (my hair was a lighter brown colour and highlights and lowlights). The post-it note indicated 2 oz of 7n and 2 oz of 6n with 20 volume, pulling the 6n through to break up the light. I asked for the roots to be done and for my hair to be flat ironed. It looked good when I left and several people in the salon complimented it, including the other stylist (maybe the owner, I'm not sure) that was working. It looked darker to me than when I get it done at my home salon, but I didn't realize until I got to a bathroom mirror that my roots are actually almost black. The length of my hair is darker and the roots are a stark black and not very well blended after the 5 weeks between this and my last root touch up. A week later and of course the white is peeking through vividly because of how dark these roots are. Everyone in the salon was friendly, but it's clear that although the stylist disappeared with the post-it note to mix the colour, she couldn't have followed the formula. I asked her during the process if she did and she said that she did but then struggled to find a word and apologized for her English and I took it that products vary by brand or something like that. But my roots are black instead of a light brown and the rest of my hair is darker, too, which will mean another color correction when I get home and a struggle the rest of the time I'm on holidays. I was only in the area temporarily so was not able to go back and ask them to address it.

Alena cut and colored my hair today, and I couldn't be happier. I was very surprised to find out Alena has worked for 25 years in a very upscale European Salon and is a highly sought-after color specialist. Obviously, the prices Alena charged in the high-end Eurpean salon while servicing the rich and famous on the continent were much higher than very reasonable pricing Alena gets here in Crystal River.
I highly recommend treating yourself to Alena.
