Let’s start with the positive: the people here are super friendly, and the facilities are clean and wonderfully decorated. The barbershop feels upscale.

Now, the unfortunate news: I really wanted to love my haircut, but honestly, it turned out a bit off from what I was hoping. I got my hair cut with Francesca, and she is a wonderful person! She made me feel comfortable and was open to trying something new with me.

Im an Asian male. I usually get a two-block cut for my hair, but this time I wanted to try something new.

I wanted an Asian mullet / wolf cut. I came in prepared with some reference photos, and was looking to the stylists for a professional opinion on how it might look on my own face. I enjoyed talking through the cut and describing it to Francesca, she was very collaborative during the process.

The haircut I ended up with had some of the qualities I described, but I think the cut looks a bit awkward and unintentional at certain angles. I know my hair isn’t the exact length and curl of some of my references - that’s not at all my barbers fault. The main thing I’m not satisfied with is the bald-looking patch towards the back of my head, and the uneven taper on the mullet. I’m sure it’ll look better grown out, but for now I think I might get a few weird stares.

Overall, I still give this place a 3 stars because I experienced great service and the people there were personable and friendly. I honestly would give the establishment 4.5 stars, and my haircut maybe 2 stars. But I went in knowing the risks, so I’m not too bummed out. I just wanted to give as honest of a review as possible. If I lived in LA, I would honestly consider coming back because even though the cut didn’t turn out exactly how I hoped, the process let’s me trust that the barbers care, are skilled, and open to feedback and opinions.

My first time coming here, very welcoming and very friendly service. Francesca the stylist who helped me with my haircut did an amazing job and really love the results! She even recommended me a product to go with my hair. Will be coming back when I’m ready for a haircut again!! 🙂

I was due for a chop-chop. Francesca really tamed my long frizzy curls into a tapered and elegant undercut. She was meticulous, and I never felt rushed in the chair. I am really happy, and that’s how one should always feel leaving a barber shop. To add to the cut, she’s lovely. Super warm and friendly. The Southpaw crew were also fantastic and the shop has a cozy feel to it. Grazie mille Francesca!!!

I went to Southpaw to get my super long curly hair trimmed and Francesca took care of it. She helped me figure out how long should I had it cut and gave me some really helpful advices on how to take care of it. I also got the scalp treatment and it was amazing. My hair looks so good and healthy now thanks to Francesca.

Francesca was awesome! I recently moved to LA, and had been getting the same haircut for years on end, and Francesca was wonderful at not only learning my hair, but helping me try out something new! Also just a great person to talk to. Whole place was super nice honestly, shoutout to Dan as well!
