Prior to Spoke, I had been to many different salons and stylists. After going to Maggie Lewelling at Spoke, I will never go anywhere else. She has been doing my hair for many years now and I am always happy. I love the color and cut. I always get compliments after seeing Maggie, so I have lots of chances to recommend her. I have had my hair cut and styled and colored by Maggie Lewelling for years and she does an excellent job I would not go to anyone else. She is always on time and very professional. I love how she styles it and the colors that she does is amazing. If I had to sum Lindsay up in three words: Attention to Detail (and an amazingly genuine human being!). She’s been my stylist for over seven years and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Lindsay is attentive, receptive, and takes her time to perfect my cut/color. Without a doubt, she can create ANY style you’re looking for with ease and has the experience to handle every type of hair, regardless of the stress you’ve put it through. Her delicate touch and calming presence enhance an already wonderful salon experience. A true master of her craft, she always makes sure I get the results I’m looking for when I walk out the door. It never ceases to amaze me the scope of her skills and dedication to her craft.

There are two professionals I am totally anal about—my eye doctor and my hair stylist. I’m lucky to have had great optometrists and hair stylists over the years but I usually do a lot of research ahead of time. Usually, but not this time...

I responded to a FB post offering a free haircut. I haven’t had my hair done in over 4.5 years and thought it might be time to have something done with my long icky hair.

After ANGELA ROMERO offered me the haircut, I immediately looked her up and if you’ve read any of these reviews, I don’t need to reiterate all of her great qualities—I found them all to be true! 💕.

She did a wonderful job, has a great eye for what would look great on me and it was over an awesome experience.

GOOD haircuts are expensive (honestly, it’s why I stopped getting it cut). Even though I didn’t pay for my haircut (this time), I will come back for another—I love that Angela is willing to pay it forward and with such a great “product.” I’m glad the planets aligned and that I was lucky to receive this treat. It reminded me that my hair deserves to be treated well too! You will not be disappointed. Ask for ANGELA. 😊💕

I've been coming here since 2011 when I moved back to town. I loved the quaintness and relaxed atmosphere.....that is until about 8 months ago when the Court Street location was closed and the Broad Street location remodeled. The ambiance has changed drastically. It is cold, frantic, impersonal and just not a pleasant experience any longer. The chairs at the shampoo sinks are horribly uncomfortable. The walls are stark.

I have had excellent stylists over the years. They are THE BEST but I will soon be moving on.

If atmosphere is not important to you, than this is a 5 star salon. If you want the whole package, look elsewhere.

I have been going to Spoke SLO for about 7 years now and have gotten the best service from Maggie Lewelling. I always feel welcomed and heard when discussing my ideas and needs. Maggie is able to help me create a hair care routine that fits my needs and my lifestyle, as well as my budget. Maggie has been nothing short of amazing and has helped me get my hair healthy after years of box dye at home. Can not say enough good things about her knowledge of curly hair and products that work best for each hair type. She was able to safely take me from box burgundy back to a natural dirty blonde. Will not go to anyone else for my hair.
