Jason is a nice guy, but a completely overrated stylist. My highlights came out thick, stripe-y and crude. He cut my bangs way too short IMMEDIATELY after we discussed what a huge problem it is for me.

I went back to have my bang area color fixed, as there was a thick stripe of too blonde hair that was farther from the root than the rest. He added in a TON of lowlights which look grey; now it doesn't blend with the rest of my hair. Cried and cried. My hair wasn't perfect before, but now it's a total mess. I have no idea what to do, and I wouldn't let him try to fix it again anyway. So, so bummed. Super expensive too.

Penny the receptionist is AWESOME. In an age when so many bookings happen online only, Penny is a real breath of fresh air and she’s a solid professional. Jason is an amazing hair stylist too. He really listens to what I want and responds well. Red is typically hard to get right but he has consistently done it, even when I ask to change the shade a bit. I’ve never been great at being a regular at a spot for my hair but I think it’s because I haven’t found Stranded before.

It a beautiful salon. The staff is great. And that Michael does really good hair. I've come to realize that every time I go in there everybody is really chill. All the stylists there do excellent work The salon is definitely a must.

This place is SERIOUSLY THE BEST HAIR SALON IVE EVER BEEN TO! Whether it's dying or cutting or both, it always turns out even better than I'd hoped. Incredible work and incredible customer service. I always feel safe and welcome here, and come out with incredible hair. THIS is the place to go!

I wanted to love my experience. I was recommended this place by a friend so at least others have had a good experience. Very kind and lovely people, but this is where the good part ends. What I got was a Supercuts haircut at a salon price, and easily the worst styling I've ever paid money for. Left with frizzy, knotted hair and all I could manage to say was Thank You So Much because I have no idea how to speak up for myself. I even generously tipped. Sad to leave this review, wish we were a better match.

One of the best salons in town. Nowhere else will leave you feeling so good and cleaned up. All of the artists are incredible at hair and whatever else they specialize in. I would 1000% recommend this spot if your looking for any hair cut/style/color they have it all down! Super worth the time energy and money, you will be glad you stopped by the Stranded Beauty Bar for your tranquil experience and cosmetic needs!

I don’t want more people going to Roxanne for color (haircuts are great too) or Jason who also is great but the truth is the truth and they deserve kudos for not only the great hairdressers they are in a town of many untrained, mediocre hairstylists but for running a top notch salon. Their long time receptionist, Penny, is also excellent. So you are in capable hands. It took me years to find them once I moved here after living in big cities where you can find properly trained people. Roxanne was trained by the best in Los Angeles and had passed that on to her husband, Jason. I go to her for Balayage, a type of streaking that is more natural looking. It is as good as anywhere else in the world I have been and I’ve been to the best salons in Paris, New York, and other major cities in the world. So if you have been frustrated by the level of quality here in Santa Cruz, this is a salon and two people who are at that top level.

Emily was able to get my youngest daughter in at the last minute, which is often hard to find with a more upscale salon. She was terrific and cut my daughter's hair so precise and beautifully! She is friendly and knowledgeable, which was awesome! The environment at Stranded is great and all of the staff was so kind and made you feel welcomed. We are from out of town, but if we were ever in town again and needed a hair cut, we would definitely choose Stranded Beauty Bar!! Thank you to Emily!! Gaelle LOVES her hair❤
