Yesterday, I had one of the most amazing spa experiences of my life, which is saying something having spent 20+ years as a travel journalist. A friend recommended The Haven Spa saying, she had a great experience with their foot massage, so I booked a Noggin Nirvana (scalp and foot massage), which proved to be true to its name.

I always say a massage experience is only as good as the heart and soul of the therapist, and Raquel made it truly unforgettable, starting with her sincere and gentle welcome when she came to greet me in the lobby. The scalp massage was gentle, thorough, and nurturing, as were the accoutrements of a hot wrap for the head after the oil was administered, as well as hot wraps for my shoulders and chest. I think I teleported out of body for a bit, I was THAT relaxed, but also recall Raquel doing fantastic and conscientious work on my feet and legs. I felt like a different person when it was over and bonus: whatever she put on my hair has made me feel like I have a new head of hair today; I've never had any treatment like this. I highly recommend it.

One somewhat unpleasant experience at the end: the two women who checked me out were more absorbed in conversing and giggling with one another than listening to my feedback and paying basic attention to a client. Maybe they could work on that. It would have been great if the front desk experience at least somewhat matched the amazing treatment I received.

Overall, an A+ spa experience. Raquel is a GEM.

I find the statement of this business misleading. While the Haven Lux spa has been in business all this time, it is under new ownership and has been since the pandemic.

A *spa experience* to me, means I can schedule back to back services and enjoy a day of pampering.
I scheduled *online, a 90m massage,facial and wax. This translated into.1. Wax, 2. Massage,3facial.
When the appointment was confirmed via phone by Emily, I asked if the waxing could be combined with the facial rather than have the services performed by *three different professionals, in the strange order it had been scheduled online. Which I had no control over. I was told no. So I canceled the waxing. Unknowingly, when I asked what time the 2 services would start-Emily booked me instead for a two hour massage! As these are unusual, She didn’t confirm this change!

I arrived at the requested start time. This is when I realized this was not at all the same spa I had been to before. I live here year-round and won’t bother coming to a place in the middle of downtown unless I thought it was worthwhile. The prices imo are high, considering they are not offering spa level pampering.

The services started with a great massage, and the worst facial I’ve ever had in my life afterwards. The towels smelled like they hadn’t been taken out of the warmer in days. Musty. Could one drop of essential oil have costed them that much that it has to be an add-on service? It would’ve made the towel. Smell much better ! Then, There was no way to simply put on a robe between the two services.

I met the conscientious seeming owner on the way out, explaining my background, what I thought of the facial, towels, mistake scheduling, and lack of a robe! He said to come back and a 20% discount would be applied to another facial service. Nope, won’t try that again!
Imho-poor business move -I’ll never be back for another facial! Ick.

I was also a little thrown off because each person seems to have their own Venmo to send a tip? I wasn’t sure this would all end up in the employee’s hands. So I said I would come back with cash. (and tipping now on a two hour massage, after seeing the charge,explained I never booked 2hours and was partially refunded). This was not my error 100% their scheduling responsibility.

The owner felt a need to text me a reminder every day for 3 days to bring gratuity, despite me telling him the exact day. This was surprising and off putting for sure.

Not destination spa level service. It’s taken me a while to write this review, I’ve been back recently for massage, with Cody again-which was great. 90m Booking made via PHONE.

Recognition they mean well and they’re trying, but after reading other reviews, I thought it was important to let people know it’s under different ownership.

I recently bought spa gift cards for my daughters' birthday, and they absolutely loved the experience! Everyone, from the massage therapists to the front staff, was incredibly nice. My daughters were a bit nervous at first, but the staff made them feel so welcome and comfortable. We will definitely be coming again next year when we come down for the holidays!

Wow. I recently had an extremely disappointing experience here - I booked an appointment for reflexology for four people two weeks in advance and confirmed it via text the day before (today). However, just an hour later, the owner called to inform us that two of the therapists had canceled. When we inquired why he hadn’t arranged for replacements, he told us that it’s challenging to find staff willing to work on Sundays and that reflexology is not as popular as full body massages. While I understand the difficulties of running a business, it’s frustrating to receive such late notice about cancellations, especially when I made the effort to confirm our appointment. This last-minute change has left me in a tough spot, especially since finding a new appointment somewhere else last minute in season is nearly impossible. The owner offered no options other than doing 2 back to back, which isn’t ideal when your guests are here for only 24 hours. As a business owner, it's essential to ensure that services promised to customers can actually be delivered, or some other offer to compensate for breaking your own cancellation policy. I hope they can improve their communication and service reliability in the future.

Although this used to be a good experience foot spa since it has been renamed (new owners?) it has really went down hill. I scheduled 3 appts together as a special holiday celebration for myself and my two adult kids visiting. I confirmed the week prior, the day prior, and then the day of 3 hours before our appointment they called to tell me one of the therapists “decided to go home early” so they wanted to break our appointment up - when I explained that no one wanted to go alone the receptionist said “well they wouldn’t be alone just an hour after you” - What? Skip this place and go somewhere that honors their commitments.

Called today to schedule a foot massage using a gift card I received from a friend. The card states it expires 3/1/2025. I was told this gift card was purchased under previous ownership and will not work anymore under the new ownership. Gave The Haven a chance to make this right and was unfortunately told this card will have to go to waste. When asked if there’s anything further I can do, was told to contact the previous owner to see if she can help. Very poor customer service, I will not be scheduling here in the future.

I had great experiences getting reflexology here. Paul is excellent. Everyone I have seen here for reflexology has been very knowledgeable, experienced and really good! I would recommend going here for sure.

The worst massage of my life. I always like to lead with empathy in anything I do but everything I'm about to state are facts. I went here with my sister-in-law while I was visiting expecting relaxation and calm but ended up needing a massage from my massage. I left feeling a lot of things but most profoundly disappointed.

I usually get 90 minute Swedish massages a couple times a year and have had a lot of different experiences, and I understand a Reflexology Massage is a bit different but this was simply a waste of time. I knew within the first 5 minutes I got the greenest person in the whole practice. The lack of confidence and no technique from my massage therapist almost made me end and walk out immediately but wanted to give her a chance.

The back part of the massage was awkward as she was barely putting any pressure on my back muscles and never hitting any points. She then lotion'd up her hands to do my lower arms and hands and then WENT BACK to massaging my back rubbing all that lotion onto my shirt. She never wiped down my hands after with a wet towel so my hands remained slippery and oily well after the massage.

The foot part of the massage was around the same, terrible technique, no confidence and not hitting any pressure points. I politely asked her to up the pressure and she did for about 30 seconds before reverting back to the original pressure. I did open my eyes from time to time and caught her seemingly bored staring at the wall. I honestly couldn't wait until this was over at this point.

Lastly, her phone was right next to me on the floor in a little basket vibrating every other minute. There's a lot more I could say and I understand she was trying and that I could have left at any moment, but I didn't want to ruin the experience for my sister-in-law who was also in the room with me and thought the experience might have improved as it went on.

Long story short, we ended up speaking to the manager who understood our concerns and he first offered 15% off which was comical to me. After really letting him know how I felt about the whole thing he offered 50% off + tip. If he wanted to keep us customers I wish he would have offered my whole service for free.

The best part about this was the laugh we both shared after all of this. Unfortunately both of us won't be back. I wish practices like this would vet and train better before wasting people's time.
