Men’s chair lost my business today and going forward. I have been an extremely loyal customer of their business for over 6 months. I want to start by saying my personal barber, Kristen, was incredible and if anything, please go support her, and I would be happy to be her customer again under different management.

This began when I scheduled an appointment with Kristen. The day of the appointment I unfortunately had to reschedule my appointment for the very next day at a later time. Soon after I get a message on my phone without any warning saying that I was charged $30 dollars for a cancellation/rescheduling fee.

I called Men’s Chair and spoke to the Owner and she explained to me that this the policy for canceling/rescheduling an appointment. I told her I understand how that is the policy but I’ve been a loyal customer and requested a refund. She said she would refuse to offer a refund. I tried reasoning with her about how I have maintained a professional business relationship with this business and I would theoretically be giving them my business for years on end and a simple warning would have been sufficient to keep me as a customer happy, and to make sure that a standard is maintained in respects to my barbers time. She again refused to understand how business relationships work and due to further incompetency she’s hurt her staff that she “cares” about by driving me away costing her own employee hundred and hundreds of dollars, given I was theoretically going to be going there for years which was the case until yesterday.

Her defense was how she’s “a small business and we have to have a policy to protect ourselves”. Which I 100% totally agree on, they should absolutely have something that protects your staff. Similarly, it’s small businesses that attract a different type of customer, one that wants to step away from the corporate system of GreatClips, SportCuts etc. Which within the system they are in, management can’t bend rules to accommodate specific customer relationships. Furthermore, it puts an adding level of expectation that small business in regard to their customers relationships can be treated with a more personalized approach, within reason. This level of approach can be applied to a customer with whom the business has formed a relationship with through the loyalty they show to the business and the value the business brings to the customer. More importantly, it’s up to the Owner to see that loyalty and, within discretion, help keep a loyal customer happy and give a simple warning, explaining that from here on, fees will be expected. Due to the Owner’s mismanagement this was not the case at all and she doesn’t care about your relationships with her business, her employees relationships, or your logical reasoning about how business works.

I have spent years trying stylist after stylist and while the hair cute were good the beard cuts were bad. But Allison at the men's chair is truly talented. I've never come away feeling so good and looking the part. My beard has been a pain forever but she was able to recognize my beard type and treat,cut, and shape it perfectly to my face. I'll be a long time regular now without a doubt. Well worth it.

First time customer, I get there sit down waiting for my appointment (got there a bit early) the place is neat, the ambience is amazing, GREAT music (I couldn't stop singing along) , it smelled amazing! Odd comment but hey you'll feel so at ease inside this place.
Haircut starts, I don't know but Allison's hands are built of fairy dust or something, she took the time to see what style fit me better, asked about my needs and my usual hair routine, she is incredibly meticulous, hard to find these days, I loved the concentration she kept in making sure my haircut wasn't lesser than perfect.
She's done cutting my hair, it totally felt like one of those "but wait, there's more!" moments! A scalp massage and a hot towel. I had been treated like this in my life. Let me tell you, you're missing out if you don't go to this place! Completely recommended and definitely coming back! Thanks Allison!

Showed up 10 minutes early and sat me down early for my haircut. Natasha was excellent with detail and I have to say it's the greatest haircut I have ever gotten. Awesome atmosphere and they offer you a free drink! Definitely coming back.

Best barbers in Birmingham and a great little shop! I've had my hair cut by both Holly and Allison. Both are fantastic. Beer is included during your appointment if you'd like one. Very cool little shop with just 2 chairs and a waiting couch. Very easy to book online. Highly recommend.

You get what you pay for with Allison. If it takes an extra minute to get it exactly how you want it, she will take that time. I’d rate the first cut she gave me a 10/10 and she’s only topped it since then so… take that how you will. You can’t go wrong here.
