We had the BEST experience at Walter E. Smithe with Kevin. He was very knowledgable about the products but was invaluable to us with his design background. I showed him a picture of our living room and he gave us valued advice on sectional options that would work best in our space. When we narrowed down a few options in terms of favorite couch and sectional options, we went home to measure out and think through. Came back the next day with what style we wanted and were faced with many fabric/color options for the couch and included pillows. Once again, Kevin to the rescue. He let us take the lead on what options we were drawn to, then he stepped in to help us consider all the different elements to fabric selection and color coordination.
The selection of options and quality at WES was great, but the design expertise and support we received from Kevin was invaluable. Cannot recommend enough!

Margaret was rude and condescending she was not helpful and every time I ask a question she will tell me it costs more money Are you sure and I ask to show me and she pull this book and flip the pages really fast not really showing me anything and just saying this will cost more. She never ask if I had a budget I never mention wanting something cheap. I was looking for quality so I do not have to buy a new dresser in at least 10 years but she just assumed that I could not afford Walter E Smithe furniture

We have now been enjoying our new couches, pillows, area rug, and coffee and end tables for the past three months; and we could not be happier. Jessica, a Smithe designer, visited our home and then guided us as we looked at and selected everything from their beautiful showroom. The delivery people arrived with a diagram and placed everything perfectly. We had some questions about the rug, and Smithe sent an expert who answered our questions and offered helpful ongoing care suggestions. It is the first time we have ever furnished a room with such beautiful, high quality, and coordinated furniture; and we are grateful for all of the help Smithe provided.

The furniture is a bit more expensive than other stores, but you get what you pay for. I've bought cheaper furniture in the past from other stores and the quality just doesn't come close. I've bought 3 pieces from Walter E. Smithe. I had some issues with a sofa, but it was under warranty and the service department was very easy to work with, and actually willing to help. When I went to buy furniture Jessica was trying to find the best piece in my budget and style, rather than just making a sale. This is the first place I'll look the next time I buy furniture.

My husband and I visited the Vernon Hills store a couple weeks ago looking to furnish a lower level of our home. We are finishing the room so it is a blank canvas. Fred helped us tremendously by asking lots of questions that helped us to clarify what we wanted. He spent the next couple hours with us as we sat on a endless amount of sectionals and then helped us to narrow down our choices. He has an extensive knowledge of furniture and design! Unfortunately, we didn't find anything that day but plan to be back. I suggest you ask for Fred. He is the BEST!

Walter Smithe is the best place to buy furniture and i'll tell you why.
i had some issues with my furniture order and Cory from Smithe reached out to help me resolve it. Cory is smart, efficient, energetic, and did a 5 star job in resolving the problem.

Truthful review.....Not a good one!
We went to view what they could offer by way of sofa or sectional. We were literally STALKED in the store. Literally.....STALKED. Would not give us enough time to make a decision on anyting. Every item we looked at, the sales persons would say "this is one of our LOWER END pieces. OMG!! $4,000 is lower end? Not to all of us honey!

Aside from being stalked and basically told we had no taste becasue we chose "lower end" items", we were told the item we were going to buy would last about 5 years IF we did not use it everyday and kept flipping the cushions.

I supervised people for a living for 35 years before retiring and my spouse managed more than 800 personnel for 39 years. Not one of you would be on the payroll if I were sitting behind the desk. Yes, I am angry and rightly so.

WE ABSOLUTELY DID NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THEIVING TRASH BY SHOPPING AT YOUR STORE! THERE ARE NOT EXCUSES UNDER HEAVEN FOR WHAT YOU DID TO US!
